I was working on a set of icons this past week and I started thinking about the absurd ritual that is "to give credit." This came to me as I was wracking my brain trying to remember amongst the throng of brushes I have, who made what.
Credit has gone way overboard these days. No longer is it sufficient just to thank the icon creator. It’s long past the days when you could credit the photographer who took the stellar image and the hosting site you found it on. Now there are template creators, maestros of the brush, and texturists to thank. But we don’t just stop there, folks. We recognize the people who once said the words we make blink and those that hunker down over their PC to do screen caps, until the credit for an icon looks like a small book. I’ve seen forewords that thank fewer people, my hand to God!
You know what I have to say about it?

If you take this make sure to credit: Me for having been born and my parents for having sex (way to go you two!). Photohoes.com for hosting. The brushes made by Some Girl and her side kick, You Know. The template fashioned by their mutual friend, Gretchen. Lyrics from the song "It Makes My Eyes Burn" by Onions on the Breath. The program, You Paid $500 For This To Make Icons??, by HahahSuckers! And finally, God, for giving me just one more day. Peace.
